"How Orgone Cinema Treats Its Visiting Filmmakers": My 164th movie - made in collaboration w/ Orgone Cinema using a high speed Fastex 16mm camera - shot by Michael Johnsen - in January of 1995 - w/ sound added in May of the same yr & minor optical printing done at Michael's place sometime later. Orgone Cinema (the film & vaudeo presenting group of Greg Pierce, Alisa Dix, & Johnsen) brought me from Canada (where I was living at the time) to Pittsburgh to present 2 screenings of my work. Their hospitality & appreciativeness was extraordinary & I had such a good time that I decided to move there a yr later. They'd previously made a high-speed film w/ visiting filmmaker Kurt Kren & gave me the same opportunity. I choreographed this. I was hanging upside-down from a clothes-bar facing away from the camera w/ a mask on backwards over my head. Fertilized duck eggs were thrown at me, while the mask was pulled off by Sharyn Lee Frederick & a bucket of water was poured over me. The camera was also upside-down so that the shot has the appearance of being right-side-up - giving the illusion that the water is going contrary to gravity by pouring UP instead of DOWN. 2 takes were shot - each taking about 6 seconds. Technically, getting the exposure right under these conditions was difficult & what success there was was due to Michael's expertise. Since the shots were so quick & the playback is so long (almost 30 times slower than the original speed), my head seems unnaturally still - giving it a corpse-like quality. The title is ironic in the sense that, when taken literally, it means just what it says: this is an example of how Orgone Cinema treats its visiting filmmakers - however, when taken figuratively (as most people are probably likely to do), it seems that the title implies that Orgone metaphorically threw eggs at me as an unhospitable criticism.
